CAPE ST. GEORGE LIGHTHOUSE

Thing To Do CAPE ST. GEORGE LIGHTHOUSE

Located on St. George Island, just over the bridge from Apalachicola, the Cape St. George Lighthouse is a popular and impressive landmark that is fun for the whole family. The original lighthouse was built in 1833 on Little Saint George and rebuilt in 1848 and 1852 after years of coastal weather and erosion. When it finally collapsed into the Gulf of Mexico in 2005, plans were quickly underway to reconstruct a replica of the lighthouse in the center of St. George Island.  It opened to the public in 2008 and has been accepting happy visitors ever since.
